What to Expect: Located in the country music capital of the world, Belle Meade is a solid Donald Ross course that has been touched up by various architects over time. In the same vein as Ross' work at Pine Needles, there isn't a lot of flash at Belle Meade but there is little to complain about either. The holes on the front nine are stronger than the back from an architectural and interest perspective with more engaging hazards and green complexes to contend with. The relatively flat terrain makes a stroll around the course a comfortable one while the tree lined fairways provide shade, but carts and caddies are both available to assist players around the course if you want. As one might expect at an old school upper end facility, Belle Meade enjoys very good conditioning with greens that roll smooth and true. In the end, Belle Meade is a nice country club experience but lacks architectural interest to make a special trip to see.
